Grading
  • Homework: Homework assignments will be due at the beginning of class each week. Assignments will be listed below. Homework is 50% of your grade.

  • Midterm: Instead of a homework assignment due March 7, there will be a take-home midterm which will be worth 20% of your grade.

  • Final: There will be a take-home final which will be due May 2 and will count for 30% of your grade.

  • Any student with a disability who needs special accommodations or other assistance in this course should make an appointment to speak with me as soon as possible.
Please show up on time for class and please keep cell phones packed away.

    Homework

Homework assignments are due at the beginning of the class date listed below. You are welcome to work with others on the homework, but everyone must write their own solutions and please list at the top of the first page the names of anyone with whom you worked or any source (animate or inanimate) from which you received assistance. This is purely for bookkeeping purposes and will not affect your score whatsoever.

The grading rubric for homework may be found here. It probably does not need to be said at this level but your solutions should be written in complete sentences and with plenty of justification.

Each assignment will have three parts: "Warmup", "Problems", and "Challenge". You will only be formally graded on the "Problems" section but I will give feedback on anything you want to turn in. The "Challenge" problems will be worth a small bonus, but not enough for them to be done in place of the "Problems" section.

Solutions are posted on the WebCT page for this course.
